Fashion Trend Report: Nordstrom Must-Haves for Women and Men

Fashion Trend Report

I went to the Fashion Valley mall in San Diego and went straight to Nordstrom. I am always very inspired when I visit Nordstrom, and Nordstrom Rack: the discounted price outlet store with the mass and contemporary fashions. Many of the pieces I saw at the high-end Nordstrom at the Fashion Valley mall, were a mix of contemporary and ready-to-wear fashions.

While I was shopping I took many photos. So, in this blog post, you will see a gallery list of photos. All these fashion photos that I took are of outfits from the dressed mannequins, a few pieces hanging from the racks, and garments that were folded onto the tables.

These items listed below are very trendy right now. I even took these photos a couple of months ago. These are all long-term fashion trends, they are not fads. Many clothing pieces, I noticed, are no longer only fashionable for one season. These trends are lasting a year and longer.

I found both women's and men's trends. The women's trends I will share with you first. Not everything is plant-based, but the garments in the photos have ergonomic properties and can support the mind, body, and spirit, even if they are made with synthetic materials. Below each photo I talk about each look or garment, and what makes it the current trend.

WOMEN

Formal: a beautiful black satin-like trench coat. A dressy turtleneck, with plaid made with beige, burgundy, and black color prints. I love this coat because it is a trench coat designed with a hood.

I love this set. I think it is not that formal, but for athleisure, this is a dressy athleisure look. I love the side panel, with the signature Burberry print. The large text on the panel makes it look very modern. The cute white teeshirt is fresh, and the sleeves are a different fabric, the plaid fabric. I think these contrasting fabrics look good.

I love this dress. I love mini a-line dresses. The rounded v-collar and large buttons make the look stylish. The sleeves are extra-large, so when the sleeve drapes downward there are lots of large curls, making the look very feminine.

This designer Yan Yan created a really cute collection of knitwear pieces. The little 3d rose bud flowers are sewn throughout the garment like a pattern. The cuts and shape of the silhouettes are very futuristic. I love the colors they chose: baby, white, and black. The looks are cozy, yet the rosebuds make the look appear dressy.

I took this photo because of the mirror. I think it is a really good retail furniture piece, and really will help sell the clothes. The pink and black collection of the piece hanging near it make them look extra stylish.

This is a cute athleisure look. This is a great set, and I love light grey. The patterned top makes the look very trendy and modern. I love the all-light grey look paired with an all-black sneaker.

The sherpa coats are by Stand Studio. Fall and winter will soon be arriving. These coats have been in trend for a while, and they are not going away anytime soon. They are so soft and comfortable, and these shades of white, pink, and camel are so stylish.

This mannequin is proof that athleisure is a long-term trend, that is not going to go away anytime soon. What I noticed at Nordstrom was around 30-50% of all their product was athleisure. There were several more mannequins with the athleisure product, and it wasn't just from the activewear sections. All white looks are very modern and they look dressy when wearing even casual wear.

This cute sweatshirt is by BP. A classic piece for your wardrobe. I love the faded fabric treatment, it makes the fabric look worn, and the dye appearance soft. This sweatshirt is the type of sweatshirt everyone should wear. You can wear this with anything, and it can be dressed down or up, and look good.

Cropped teeshirts with denim overalls and oversized large business vest jackets with mini jean skirts. I think these are a cute couple of looks. I would wear this oversized vest and mini skirt, it looks so comfortable, and dressy at the same time. The overall is cute, and I like them, even more, when they are worn with shirts like this cropped top v-neck tee shirt.

I love this light pink sweatshirt by Aviator, with pastel and warm-colored strips on the sleeve. I love the label on the garment, it says it will distress naturally with age, and make it look even better. I think it is important for brands to say things like this, it will keep people from throwing out clothes too soon. The lightning bolt embroidery is a cute symbol, but it is energizing, too.

These leggings are by AFRM. Knit leggings are a new trend, that I think is going to be a longer trend. We can design multiple different types of leggings with multiple different types of knit weaves. I love seeing these leggings in lighter colors. There are a lot of leggings in black and grey, so it is nice to see them in different colors.

MEN

Photo: Nordstrom

This is a good trend, dressy cotton, with oriental abstract prints, in both bright and pastel colors combined. The pink teeshirt and white, longer-length shorts make it a fun look.

These shorts are by Trunks. I love these pastel colors for men, and pastel is the type of color shades we want to see in menswear. These fabrics give off a modern, yet retro feel that is very stylish. I like long shorts, but I think shorter shorts are becoming more and more of a trend for this season, and the cruise/resort collections.

I love these looks, and they are perfect for the fall. The black and white print pattern is very artistic and creative. I love the classic green shirt opened with a white shirt and jeans. The jeans rolled up are a cool trend, and it reveals a nice color shade of brown on the socks.

This velour, terry polo shirt by Noon Goons is a lot of fun. The brand is based in Downtown Los Angeles so I can see this LA-style vibe from it. It had the perfect light purple color, and the fabrics is soft. The velour terry is a long-term trend currently.

These are a few dressy casual looks that I found in Nordstrom. The enlarged feather print is formal yet casual. The knit polo, the knit weave make this polo dressy. Short to mid-short shorts are a great look when you want to look a little dressier than usual. Navy white and black with accent colors or khaki and burgundy are cool and interesting.

I love this outfit, and it is one of my favorite outfits. This hunter green is a fabulous color, and I love the animal print. The sneakers are really cute, and I love sneakers with crew socks, it is a great trend. Cut-off jean shorts in this faded black look great. They are extra tapered, making it a modern, fresh look.

Final Thoughts

I enjoyed shopping at Nordstrom. I had a lot of fun taking these photos of the garments, and mannequins. I love Nordstrom's retail merchandising, and their displays. I create more of these fashion trend reports in the future.
