  • Make Your Life Easier with These 5 Top Clothing Care Hacks

Clothing Care Hacks The clothing care hacks below, are a few hacks that I use regularly. They have saved me time, money, and energy. Whether you are a fashion consumer or a fashion industry professional, these clothing care hacks will work great for your wardrobe and fashion business. I am sure these clothing care hacks will help you, as much as they help me! ODORS IN FABRIC 1. Hydrogen peroxide and baking soda to remove odors from fabric I cannot stand odors in fabrics. I especially do not like it when I shop for thrift items and they smell like smoke or strong scents from laundry detergents. I need my clothing to be hypoallergenic, otherwise these types of strong-smelling, detergents will irritate my skin with rashes, and the scent will get into my lungs. Also, I do not like the film that is left on fabrics from dryer sheets. I don't use dryer sheets, however, if I go to the laundromat, the person who previously used the dryer may have used laundry sheets. So, the residue is in the dryer. Or, if I buy thrift clothing items, the person may have used dryer sheets. Hydrogen peroxide and baking soda added in the laundry will remove strong odors, and clean the fabrics. I add baking soda and 3% hydrogen peroxide in the bottom of the empty laundry washing machine, along with my laundry detergent. REMOVING WRINKLES Photo credit: Walmart 2. Steamer It is sometimes a pain to use an iron board and iron. A steamer is much easier, and faster to use, and can be a replacement for most clothing items. I love steaming clothes. The steam is very gentle to the fabrics. The only thing is to keep your hands away from the steam, as the temperature is so hot, it will burn your skin. The steamer pictured is a handheld one for quick and easy clothing items. If you have a lot of clothes to steam, you may want to get the large steamer with its water tank, hose with a handle attached, and a pole that hangs up the clothing items. I own this handheld steamer. It is a fast steamer and I love it, however, I am looking to get a large, more industrial-like steamer soon. OIL AND GREASE STAINS Photo credit: Amazon 3. Janie Stick Spot Cleaner Oil and grease stains are very hard to remove. I have used the Janie stick with success. It will remove most oil, grease, and dairy-based stains that laundry detergents and other stain removers cannot. A lot of clothing goes to waste because of these types of stains. It is made of 100% natural clay, and the clay absorbs the oil stain within minutes. REMOVE DIRT STAINS FROM SHOES Photo credit: Smith's Food and Drug 4. Nail polish remover to clean sneakers Nail polish works great to remove dirt from shoes. It especially works on white rubber soles. Shoes usually have to be thrown out when the white rubber looks too dirty. Nail polish remover makes them look like new. MAKE CLOTHES DRY FASTER Photo credit: Texlon 5. Adding a dry towel If you add a dry towel to your load of laundry, in the dryer, the towel will absorb the moisture. It will make the clothes dry faster. I have often found that if I have wet towels in the dryer, they will stay wet until the very end of the drying time, as they absorb the water from the clothes. If you put a dry towel in the dryer, it will make your laundry load dry very quickly. Want to read more articles? Check them out here: HIGHLIGHTS

  • Interesting Fashion Habits of 5 Famous Artists

The 5 artists from the past, and the interesting dressing habits they had In this post, you will find a few interesting fashion habits of 5 famous artists from the past. I love finding out what famous artists wore, and what their fashion and style habits were. Artists tend to have eccentric styles, and fashion habits of dress that are creative and interesting. 1. Michelangelo Buonarroti Photo credit: Wikipedia Michelangelo Buonarroti Michelangelo was an Italian sculptor, painter, and architect. He needed very little sleep and was usually so focused on his work that he would spend weeks in the same clothes and shoes, and even sleep in them. His father told him he would live longer if he did. He lived until 89, which at the time, during the 1500s, was a very old age to stay alive. 2. Salvador Dali Photo credit: The Continuous Lean Magazine Salvador Dali Salvador Dali, the famous Spanish, Surrealist painter used his cane as an artistic fashion accessory. It also became an important symbol of who he was. One of his canes was made of wood, and it spiraled at the top. Another cane was made of brass, the handle of his "walking stick was shaped like Dali’s unique mustache." Dali had a large clear plastic can, another cane of his was of a silver dog’s head, and a sailor suit. His work was definitely produced to alter reality. Some believe his cane was an influence of his work and was used as a mystical object to support his imagination and his personality. He definitely used the cane as a part of his style, and as a form of protection; sort of like a weapon. 3. Andy Warhol Photo credit: Hulton Archive//Getty Images Andy Warhol Andy Warhol was a famous artist, photographer, film director, and a leading figure in the pop-art movement. Warhol was also a fashion icon. He had hair loss at a very young age and wore wigs to cover the balding. He is pretty famous for his platinum wigs. He had hundreds of them and had saved them all. After he died, 40 of his wigs were archived in the Pittsburgh, PA Andy Warhol Museum. 4. Leonardo Da Vinci Photo credit: Self-portrait by Leonardo Da Vinci Leonardo Da Vinci Leonardo Da Vinci, was known as an artist, engineer, inventor, et cetera. He was also a fashion handbag and fashion accessory designer. He designed a Victorian leather purse around 1497. At the time when many men were wearing extra-long cloaks, Da Vinci wore a rose-colored cloak that came to his knees. He never conformed to fashion and disliked tight clothing. Da Vinci said: "They burst on many people.” He also disliked the tight shoes that were worn at the time, saying that they were so tight toes would develop corns. 5. Georgia O'Keeffe Photo credit: Photo by Bruce Weber Georgia O'Keeffe Georgia O'Keeffe was a famous fine artist, known for her flower, skyscraper, and landscape paintings. She always wore black clothes set against white; like a white tee shirt with a black coat. She was more interested in shapes and lines than wearing lots of colors. She had a very minimal and utilitarian wardrobe. Apart from black and white, she loved wearing jeans and white tee shirts. She had a sleek, and elegant style, and her fashions symbolized and represented her style of art. Want to read more articles? Check them out here: HIGHLIGHTS

  • 10 Things a Fashion Author Can’t Live Without

Photo credit: newspaper print jacket by Moschino 10 things a fashion author can't live without I have included a list of 10 things that I do, or use daily, that inspire me as a fashion author. They keep me motivated to continue writing about fashion. I also talk about why these 10 things are so important in my life and in my fashion writing career. 1. Classical music I love classical music. I often listen to classical music, because I can write my fashion book while I listen to classical music at the same time. Classical music is a very enlightening music source, and the instruments are soothing, calming, relaxing, while also energizing. It supports my physical and mental health. If I had to choose between any music genre, classical music is what I would choose. I love techno, but classical music is the most enlightening for me. 2. My herbal tea + coffee I drink coffee, but no matter what, I always need a cup of herbal or caffeinated tea. I love black and green tea. I also love different boxed herbal teas of all different brands. Herbal teas really put me into a state of meditation and calm, and they help ground me into the moment. When I am writing about fashion and thinking about new fashion ideas, a cup of hot tea always puts me in a better mood. 3. Pinterest + Instagram As a creative person, I love Pinterest. It is an amazing tool for the imagination, for fashion research, and it also helps me to discover new life experiences. The Pinterest photos on art, food, clothes-- really inspire me and support my lifestyle. It is also really important for anyone who wants to learn and discover new things. I love Pinterest. I also really love Instagram. The way it is set up, and how the platform shows all the images together, it’s really like a visual diary, and I believe it’s a really great way to connect with people. 4. Walks I will typically take a break and go outside into nature. I usually visit Mount Shasta. Mount Shasta is a mountain in Mount Shasta City, CA. It’s an incredible mountain, and it is said to be a spiritual vortex. I love to go there and be in nature. After my walk, when I go back to write my fashion books, my mind is very clear and focused, and I feel energized to keep writing. 5. My healthy fashions I have started a photo journal of my looks, on the website and on social media. They represent what healthy fashion means to me. Currently, I try to wear 100% plant-based fibers, mostly cotton and some linen garments. I do wear some synthetic apparel. I love comfortable clothing. A lot of my clothes are athleisure style and modern style. My fashion photo diary is really helping me come up with new ideas and reflect on fashion in new, psychological ways. 6. Healing recipes I absolutely love food, and I have professionally cooked and worked as a chef in the past. I jot down all of my own recipes that I make and like. Hanna Kroeger really inspired me to make food, not just as a meal, but as a way to heal the body. So, I choose to eat foods that make me feel comfortable. When I get tired from writing I think about comfort foods and foods that will really help me at the moment. 7. Window shopping I will go out shopping, even if I don’t buy anything, and just look around. It’s always inspiring to see products available. It’s a form of therapy I enjoy and also a way to exercise. When I don’t feel like going for a walk, shopping really motivates me to move my body. Window shopping is also another way for me to get inspired by life. I also love to observe inspiring street fashion. 8. New Age Rituals I like to connect with the Great Spirit and my spirit guides. I will sometimes say to myself, “I need a sign,” and they will give me one. My fashion writing career is very much inspired by the connection I have with Great Spirit. I am also documenting my spiritual and non-spiritual fashion experiences. This world really isn’t what it seems! 9. List-making Lists help to keep me organized, efficient, and productive. It’s a great tool for anyone who has a lot of ideas, and a lot of things to do. This is because, when they get written down, they will eventually get done. Also, as a fashion author, I am constantly thinking of new fashion ideas, so writing them down, is like planning for my future fashion books. 10. Fashion people When I think about fashion people, usually people from the past; Coco Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld, Diana Vreeland-- these fashion designers, and fashion people keep me motivated and inspired. Their love for fashion and their true passion for fashion is really contagious! So, whenever I need a lift, I look to fashion designers and fashion icons, because it is a good form of support. They really reveal to us the true power of fashion. Final thoughts Over the course of a couple of years, I have spent an extensive amount of time researching fashion, the fashion industry, and creating fashion concepts. I am finished with my first fashion book HEALTHY FASHION: THE DEEPER TRUTHS, it is in the final copy edit stage, but I still have quite a bit to do in order to bring this fashion book to light. My book is in the process of publication, and my publisher is John Hunt Publishing. They have an incredible assortment of published books that are really modern, and futuristic. Out of all the fashion roles I have done in my fashion career, I like being a fashion author the most. It has finally brought me to a point, where I am realizing that I really love to write about fashion, and I have so much new information to share. As a creative person, I love fashion design and apparel, and I love writing, and of course-- I love to think about fashion and understand fashion. So, I look forward to sharing more about my book with you soon! Want to read more articles? Check them out here: HIGHLIGHTS

  • What is healthy fashion?

Fashion in pursuit of health, wellness, and therapeutic function will truly help our lives more. This can be done in various ways. At this point, fashion for health has only really been practiced very mildly, generally speaking. My upcoming book HEALTHY FASHION is a fashion guide on fashion for health. A great place to start is to wear plant-based fashion fabrics. It DOESN’T mean that we are going to need to step back in time and dress in textiles and fabrics that make us look like we are wearing a burlap bag. HEALTHY FASHION is not about that. Plant-based fabrics can be cool when we design, dress, and perceive them to be modern. Plant fabrics are, in large part, creating fashion for health. It’s one of the basics of creating a healthier wardrobe, but there is so much more to it than that. If you do wear some polyester, no worries, it’s hard not to wear synthetic fabrics or accessories, it’s been the demand for so long. "You don’t have to save the world- just focus on your own needs, like wearing more comfortable, cotton and linen fabrics. Hanna Kroeger, renowned healer said: “God helps those who help themselves.”- Alyssa Couture Healthy Fashion takes a modern approach in the way we relate to our clothes, fashion style, and fashion trends. It's about fashion design and apparel for a purpose. There's a saying: "how we treat our body, is how we treat ourselves." It's the same with our way of dress; what we wear can be an extension of how we care about ourselves, our health, and our wellbeing. The main goal of my work is to initiate the consciousness of fashion: fashion for spiritual ascension. There are numerous ways and possibilities to do so, that’s what is so much fun about it. Clothing is a basic necessity, a great canvas that offers a lot of room for us to be creative with our looks. We can find creative ways to use fashion as an opportunity for a better life. As we all know, the fashion industry is a little chaotic. It’s an incredibly huge industry, and it’s always exciting, but there are a disturbance and void in fashion. It's especially clear when unethical fashion is observed, causing all of us to think twice about fashion. We can use this, however, as a catalyst to make more fashion solutions, that contribute to our health and wellbeing. How can we be inspired to dress healthy? Well, healthy fashion doesn’t have to be portrayed as “health” (that word isn’t always exciting), or taken in the literal sense. Not everyone really, truly wants to "exercise” health via fashion. So, we have to make it fun, inspiring, and interesting. We have to make fashion and dressing an opportunity to feel better about ourselves. Fashion is important and we make it even more purposeful. In general, we have to make healthy fashion: futuristic modern fresh trendy artistic fun Above all, we have to make fashion a very clear Universal fashion language, where everyone is invited to participate. Healthy fashion doesn’t just speak on behalf of a specific fashion style or fashion aesthetic. We can think much broader than that, and this alone will make healthy fashion reachable and accessible to all. Healthy Fashion Campaign: Fashion for the future It is starting to get a little redundant saying, “fashion for the future”, but currently it is stated quite frequently because we aren’t really in a place where we are truly happy with the current state of fashion. I have taken a lot of time and energy contemplating, reflecting, and diagnosing all the strengths and weaknesses that fashion has to offer, and I can say, as fashion intuitive, we are all going to be in for a pleasant surprise. Fashion in the future is going to be very fun, and exciting more than ever before. “Fashion moves, just look at the trends, how fast they can translate and enhance our lives. Yet, fashion can also be slow. Just look at how long it took the cellphone to be invented. Fashion has not ‘arrived’.” - Alyssa Couture My contribution to the future of the fashion industry is my upcoming fashion book. It is a challenge to not speak about my book, as it has been such a large part of my life these past couple of years. It is headed into the proofing stage, and from there, it will take several months to process, publish, and go into print. I am more than happy that this is happening, as I consider my fashion book a really incredible resource for everyone that cares about fashion. HEALTHY FASHION: THE DEEPER TRUTHS is written with both the fashion professional and fashion consumer in mind. Stay tuned for more updates. For now: share, like, and follow my social media platforms for daily, fashion reflections, inspiration, and fashion insight. Thank you :) Want to read more articles? Check them out here: HIGHLIGHTS

  • Fashion Design and Apparel Made for Your Health + Well-being

Fashion for human health The title of my campaign; HEALTHY FASHION, represents what the fashion industry needs to address. Fashion that can truly help us achieve more health with less suffering and pain. I am all about that. Healthy Fashion is a modern way of thinking about fashion Healthy fashion is meant to reflect a holistic type of fashion that is made for reflection Fashion for health is in many ways an alternative medicine Fashion is in a state of transition and progress. Where we are at with our fashion is perfect and meaningful as is. I will not be preachy and write about fashion, style, and dressing a certain way. I will not act like we should wear specific things to achieve health-- and if we don’t, we are doomed! That’s fear propaganda, and that is not my style. I will speak about clothing-in-transition and promote practical ways to wear and produce a fashion wardrobe that is made to support our mind, body, and spirit. Fashion for health creates balance, harmony, and our ultimate well-being. Another way to practice health that we don’t often think about is our use of clothing and our wardrobe. Do we need another modality for health and healing? The answer is yes. We have to wear clothes anyway to survive, so we mine as well make use of our clothing. These are exciting times for fashion, as the current state of fashion is in flux. Everyone is ready for a new, revamped way of seeing and identifying with fashion. Boring and dull fashion doesn't contribute enough to our well-being. Why is fashion for health important? Fashion for the mind, body, and spirit is ultimately what we need to support our health. Fashion for health speaks on many different levels, like our mental physical emotional health states, to name a few….. Our mind, body, and emotions are definite states of being-- and they are in relation to what we wear constantly. Healthy Fashion functions to bring fashion in a true, balanced way and in support of our mind, body, and emotions in a very supportive way. Overall-- fashion design and apparel for health can be expressed in so many ways that you are likely wearing healthy fashion. However, it is important to realize all the different ways fashion can offer us true healing and health. In my blog and in my books I talk about them. No one is behind or forward in our styles of dress-- as our fashion style and the fashion trends we wear are personal. However, there are advantages of reading about healthy fashion, as I promote futuristic and advanced methods of fashion for health in ways that are yet not heard of or often mentioned. Why Healthy Fashion? I started my campaign HEALTHY FASHION with the idea of approaching fashion within a new spectrum: fashion for health. Before my campaign, I started writing and researching sustainable fashion 5 years ago. Through my research, and based upon my own fashion experience, my fashion interests and work evolved into researching and writing about fashion that can surpass the means of its environmental pursuits, and be about fashion for one’s health. The idea of fashion as a tool for health makes me excited. As much as it is something that I used for my health, fashion was/is a tool for my well-being. I was so passionate about the subject of fashion for health, I wrote a book on it! I am very excited to share it with you soon. As of now, it is in the production phase with my publisher John Hunt Publishing. The book will be printed in December 2021-- under their mind/body/spirit imprint ‘Ayni’ books. I am excited about my new developments and my book I spent years working on, (on and off, it’s been a project, to say the least!) My new book really is the main inspiration for my re-launched campaign now. I look forward to presenting this book to you soon. In the meantime, continue reading my blog. The blog is meant to encourage and instill practical ways we can create a healthier state of fashion. Why is HEALTHY FASHION a Campaign? HEALTHY FASHION is a business, yet, I call it a campaign because it is a part of creating a movement for 'healthy fashion.' I originally launched the HEALTHY FASHION CAMPAIGN in 2015. It had to be put on pause for situational life circumstances, but I am back, and the concepts are much more new, sought after, and game-changing based on the culmination of my life experience, research, and fashion exploration. Healthy Fashion is a CAMPAIGN. It’s created to introduce a movement and support all of us. It’s really about building momentum to get this concept, heard, and to promote and infiltrate these modern, fashion concepts into the mainstream. It’s in order to make new strides and new ways of creating more health for us all. I do need your support, help, your passion and simply believe the power of fashion for health is a necessity. This is for planetary evolution and human evolution. What does Healthy Fashion Campaign Offer? My campaign is in tribute and in an effort to create awareness of my upcoming fashion book, which I know you will like if you are interested in fashion for health. The campaign itself is here to: Educate, inform, and promote enlightening content on ‘fashion deemed medicinal’. Currently, I am in the process of putting together some free fashion tools, fashion resources, and downloads. I am also in the process of creating a new 'work with me' services page that will offer fashion consultations, e-courses, fashion printables, and my fashion book later on, etc. Those will be ready for you in the coming weeks and months, so stay tuned! In the meantime, check out my current services I have available: public speaking fashion consultations interview appearances fashion articles collaborations + more! As a fashion author, I am really eager to start spreading the word about my book. It is now available for pre-order and it will be stocked in bookstores several months from now. Life is fast and before I know it the book will be in print! I am in the process of boosting my fashion campaign with fashion-for-health-relative, interesting content. I will promote such an important issue in a practical and light-hearted way. HEALTHY FASHION represents optimal fashion for health, but it’s also down to earth (I am still wearing some unhealthy fashion, but it compensates- as some elements of a look or piece of clothing contribute to it being healthy overall). My wardrobe isn’t perfect, I would say it’s in transition. This is an exciting fashion campaign. The concept of fashion for health is in the beginning stage, and it really will never end. I have virtually an endless amount of information to share with you folks, I am looking forward to sharing more! Want to read more articles? Check them out here: HIGHLIGHTS
